It’s the only time of year downtown Houston is blanketed in rainbows, and the people around you are partying like there’s no tomorrow. It’s the time we’re reminded of how amazing the LGBTQ+ community is. It’s been 40 years of celebrations, and we’ve come a long way. So, it’s no surprise that Pride Houston has made this year’s theme #Pride40, in commemoration of its first parade in June 1982.

There’s still time to unabashedly be yourself before the parade. Come join “Rock the Runway” on Wednesday, June 20, starting at 7 p.m. at Audi Central Houston. After all the models strut their stuff, continue your summer night joining “Fear the Queer” for an alternative after-party filled with loud music, drag and alternative subculture.

The fun continues the day of the parade, with performances from Michael Chiavone, A Great Big World, DJ Annalyze and more. But the party doesn’t stop there. The most anticipated act of the night is multi-talented singer, Broadway star and YouTube sensation Todrick Hall. Starting at 5:30 p.m., Hall is expected to take the festival stage with a musical adventure.

With a such a talented lineup, you can expect this week to be magical. It’s what comes with Pride. So, get yourself out there donning your rainbow attire along with a tribe of people who scream and dance as loud as you do.
