Seafood gumbo, boudin and the aroma of southern spices are all things you expect from a Creole-style kitchen. There are many places in the Houston area where Creole delicacies take center stage with a new restaurant that’s been added to the list.

The Durham House, which is located at 1200 Durham in the Heights, is a recently opened restaurant that specializes in high-end Creole and European cuisine. Since its opening, The Durham House has received a warm welcome from patrons who enjoy the enticing menu that includes a hard-to-find selection of wines, spirits and beer.

Last month, the restaurant welcomed its new Executive Chef Mike McElroy. Chef Mike is known for his Provencal/Creole cooking style. So bold, down-home flavors are what he does best. He’s already touched up the Durham menu with some of his signature dishes that include: Coppa Di Testa, Fried Marrow and Frisée Salad.

The Durham House also keeps the atmosphere festive all weekend long. On Saturdays, the restaurant hosts Crawfish Saturdays starting at 11 a.m., and brunch on Sundays starting at 10 a.m. The Durham House has landed in Houston, but the flavorful Creole dishes may make your taste buds think you’re in the heart of Louisiana.
