Brunch, brunch, brunch. The word alone has different meanings to different people. To some, going to brunch means eating with family after church and enjoying quality time together. To others, brunch is a continuation of the Saturday night party. You might have gotten little sleep, but that doesn’t stop the urge to keep the weekend going. And to some of us, brunch is a time to sit on a patio, enjoy the Houston weather and live in the moment while sipping on a mimosa.

Discovery Green in downtown Houston is full of “live in the moment” occasions with concerts, special events and restaurants that are worth visiting, such as The Grove. The Grove Houston at Discovery Green is now offering “Brunch on the Green” every Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., and the menu ranges from the succulent to the crispy, with many memorable bites in between.

Now being a guy from the South, I’ve seen grits served at a lot of brunches. From cheese grits to spicy grits, the breakfast classic has had its fair share of spin-offs, but The Grove has taken this classic breakfast item to the next level. When I visited the restaurant, they offered rice grits with shrimp and sausage. Their creamy grits had a homemade flavor that didn’t taste processed or as if they were made for bulk consumption. The grits were on point and the added meat was enough to fill you up, but yes, I did go back for seconds.

The Grove’s brunch buffet is pretty much a feast. You’ll have everything from fresh breads and pastries to pork belly sliders, rotisserie chicken and even well-seasoned red snapper. You’ll also find different stations including the made-to-order omelet station with chopped veggies and fresh ingredients, as well as the meat station where you’ll encounter tender racks of lamb, which only elevates the brunch dining experience.

And brunch is never complete without some drinks, right?  The Grove’s brunch drink menu includes margaritas, mimosas, mojitos, and red and white sangria for $15 each with one-cent refills. And if you prefer something non-alcoholic, the restaurant has fresh juices and lemonade that can still complement anything off their multi-layered brunch menu.
