Coi Leray Drops New Single
and Announces Sophmore Album
On Friday, April 28, platinum-selling singer and rapper Coi Leray dropped a single called “New Body” on Uptown/Republic Records. The song is an upbeat, sex-positive anthem about doing what you want with your own body. The catchy track features a familiar sample from the 1963 Leslie Gore track, “It’s My Party,” with Leray reinterpreting the hook to fit the song’s sexually charged themes of female empowerment.
“New Body” is just the most recent in a series of memorable tracks Leray has dropped this year, including “Bops,” “Baby Don’t Hurt Me“ with David Guetta and Anne-Marie, and “Nonsense (Remix)” with Sabrina Carpenter. Last year, Leray dropped her debut album Trendsetter, which featured the double-platinum hit “No More Parties” and gold-certified “Big Purr (Prrdd)” with Pooh Shiesty, among other chart-topping bangers. Not long after, she scored her first solo entry into the Billboard Hot 100 with the track “Players,” which landed at No. 9. Since then, she’s continued to promote her records and connect with fans through high-energy performances at Rolling Loud, Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, and many more.
With this new single, Leray plays to her strengths while continuing to explore new territory. It’s a catchy track that is sure to gain traction on TikTok and keep fans excited for whatever she has coming next.
Leray’s sophomore album, COI, will be released on June 23. “New Body” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
