Whoa, baby! Crawfish season is here, which means events with succulent bites, cold beers and a little Cajun seasoning can be found all along the Gulf Coast. The love for the freshwater crustaceans has kicked into high gear over the years, as different regions have developed their own flavors and cooking techniques to make crawfish a savory hit. And if savory and a good time sound like a winning combination, then may I suggest the Houston Crawfish, Crab & Grill Festival.

The Houston Crawfish, Crab & Grill Festival is an annual event where the sounds of Zydeco and Louisiana-inspired recipes flourish for the day. On Saturday, May 12, festival-goers will be treated to an assortment of crawfish, crab meat and other grilled menu items. The food is accompanied by live performances featuring Lil’ Nate and The Zydeco Big Timers, Dana Jackson, La Eminencia, Mizz Black and the Black Magic Band. You can also expect to see some DJs mixing it up, including 11-year-old DJ Pixel, along with other veteran DJs.

The Houston Crawfish, Crab & Grill Festival is also an event that gives back to the community. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit The As One Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and increase awareness of the sickle cell trait, and to motivate today’s youth to achieve their dreams.

The festival will be held at the Humble Civic Center from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can order your advance tickets for $10 here, or pay $20 at the gate.
