Kaskade Returns to Houston with a Show at Spire Nightclub
Fresh off the heels of his dance-inspired Christmas album, Kaskade Christmas, Kaskade is kicking off the New Year with a slew of shows, with one coming up in Houston.
The Grammy-nominated DJ and producer will return to H-Town for a show at Spire Nightclub on Saturday, Jan. 20. We’ve all come to appreciate Kaskade’s unique take on progressive house, with his attraction to heavy vocals and blaring basslines; which is one of the reasons why he’s continuously ranked as one of the best in the business.
His albums have been reviewed by JMG writers, who have favored his music over the years. With the release of his album Dynasty in 2010, contributing writer Lana Maciel wrote, “With his latest album, he’s releasing a new set of original trance and house tracks, all guaranteed to make you sweat it out on the dance floor—or even the workout room.”
In 2013, his album Atmosphere went No. 1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and contributing writer Stacy Williams was enjoying Kaskade’s momentum by saying, “The DJ/Producer wears many hats and this album will definitely reflect that. A combination of great producers and interesting collaborations, Kaskade’s 10th studio album and sixth album with Ultra Records, will not disappoint.”
In 2016, Kaskade surprised me with an incredible remix of Alicia Keys’ “In Common.” He took an already well-produced R&B ballad, and elevated it to a danceable mid-tempo masterpiece that could blend in anywhere from the beach to the dance floor.
So what we can expect from Kaskade’s upcoming set at Spire is unknown at this point. But if we have his sets from Something Wicked, Ultra Music Festival or individual releases to go off of, club-goers will be in for a fun-filled night. Also, local DJs SEB and Poe Junior will kick off the night before Kaskade takes over.
