On Dec. 9, SZA released her second studio album, SOS, to critical and commercial acclaim. She defeated the dreaded sophomore slump and returned with an album that lived up to the hype and praise of her debut, Ctrl, after a five-year hiatus.

SOS is currently spending its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album has 23 songs and features appearances from big names like Don Toliver, Travis Scott, and Phoebe Bridgers. But the most surprising appearance on the album comes from Ol’ Dirty Bastard of the Wu-Tang Clan, who has a verse on the closing track, “Forgiveless.”

Three singles came out in the lead-up to the release – “Good Days,” “I Hate U,” and “Shirt.” A fourth single, “Nobody Gets Me,” accompanied the album’s release with a music video. One of the most impressive tracks on SOS, “Nobody Gets Me” is a melancholy ballad that centers around a story of love and heartbreak.

Despite the long wait, SZA returned with a mature and timeless project with plenty of replay value. Her new album has solidified her position as one of R&B’s leading artists while also giving fans plenty of music to enjoy while they wait to see the songstress on tour in 2023.
