Ride Along 2 rolled into theaters on Jan. 15, and debuted as the No. 1 movie in America this week. As a movie about dysfunctional relationships with both family and friends, Ride Along 2 brought in $34 million and is definitely a must-see.

Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) has always been kind of a twerp, giving the impression that his high-strung demeanor and loquacious tone would limit him to a career in high school security for the rest of his days. However, in this modern day and age, pigs apparently do still fly, since Ben has graduated from the police academy and is officially an officer for the Atlanta police department.

Ben still has every intention of marrying the love of his life Angela (Tika Sumpter), but her brother James (Ice Cube) still can’t stand Ben and often contemplates how clowns like him are accepted into the police academy.

With the big day on the horizon, Lt. Brooks (Bruce McGill) assigns Ben and James to collaborate with the Miami Police Department in an effort to bring down a notorious drug lord named Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt).

Picking up after the events of Ride Along, Ride Along 2 is being released almost two years to the day after the first film.

The action comedy sequel also stars Chris Bosh, Tyrese Gibson, Ken Jeong, Olivia Munn, Glen Powell, Sherri Shepherd, T.I., Nadine Velazquez, and Dwayne Wade.
