You may have thought you knew who the boss is, but it’s not who you think. Actress Melissa McCarthy is on a roll with another movie filled with belly laughter. She takes on the role of Michelle Darnell in The Boss, an original character she wrote and created along with her husband Ben Falcone and film director Steve Mallory.

McCarthy is joined by a stellar cast including Kristen Bell, Kathy Bates, Peter Dinklage and Kristen Schaal. Darnell the money mogul finds herself behind bars after it is found that she participated in insider trading. After her six-month stint in federal prison, Michelle moves in with her former assistant Claire, played by Bell, to get back on her feet.

As she attempts to redeem her reputation after reemerging, she finds that not everyone is so willing to forgive her due to her deceitful past. After attending a scout meeting with Claire’s daughter, Darnell realizes that her business comeback is disguised within the unimaginable – selling brownies for the scout organization. She and Claire then set out to compete against a mom who is not fond of having a felon affiliated with the organization. McCarthy executes the brash and determined personality of Michelle Darnell with a touch of class, creating a blockbuster full of laughs.

The Boss is released on Friday, April 8.
