For over 20 years, Grammy Award-winner Maxwell has produced some of the most memorable R&B/neo soul hits. His formula always seems to include a selection of sensual instruments, thought-provoking lyrics and his vocal ability as a soul-stirring tenor.

With the release of his 1996 single “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” Maxwell’s voice made a brazen move through the evocative sounds of drum beats and keyboard melodies. Then in 1999 with the R. Kelly-produced ballad “Fortunate,” Maxwell’s vocal fluidity made him a dominant force in the sultry world of late night R&B. So it’s no surprise that 20 years later, he’s still hitting all the right notes.

On Oct. 5, 2018, Maxwell released his new single “Shame” from his upcoming album NIGHT, which will arrive in 2019. NIGHT will be the final installment of his trilogy album which began with BLACKsummers’night (2009), then followed by blackSUMMERS’night (2016).

“Shame” takes the Brooklyn-born singer into a modern direction with his come-hither falsetto, which makes the song smooth, different and ready for radio play. The music video for “Shame,” was directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, follows several veiled models as they frolic throughout New York City and later reveal themselves as beautiful women of color.

Maxwell is currently on his 50 Intimate Nights Live Tour with special guest Marsha Ambrosius. The tour has a stop in Houston at the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land on Sunday, Oct. 28. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased here.
