Two years ago at Super Bowl XLIX, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot made headlines as she made her triumphant return to music. Now, it’s Busta Rhymes’ turn to reemerge and show how an icon gets it done. On Feb. 2, Busta dropped his brand new single “Get It,” alongside Missy and former Destiny Child’s singer Kelly Rowland. Together, these legends are here to prove that they can still “Get It.”

Usually, when Busta and Missy are on the same track, we get nothing but pure lyricism genius as they dazzle and amaze the listeners with their clever word play and hypnotic syllables. “Get It” has that exact effect as these two MCs are able to causally pick up speed as their verse progresses without skipping a beat.

The production of this single alone is top notch, and as Kelly Rowland continuously sings, “Get it, get it, flip it, tip it, dip it,” her vocals become the main driving force, the beat of this song. Rowland’s chants are all you hear, aside from the simple kick drum and an 808. This masterful combination gives Busta and Missy free reign on the track.

When you hear the kick drum, you immediately recognize that this is just the set up for the following one-two punch verse, in which the kick drum is replaced by an 808 drum. Once the clapping from the 808 is heard, it’s like a switch into second gear as the two rap legends pick up speed and showcase why they are legends in the game.

There has been no word on the title of Busta’s new album or when it is going to be released. However, from the overwhelmingly positive reactions from “Get It,” fans are clutching their seats in anticipation for the drop of his hot new album.
