Athleta Partners with Derek Lam & The Gap for Latest Collection
Athletic streetwear has become increasingly popular in the fashion world, and many prominent fashion labels such as Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff have hopped on the athleisure bandwagon.
Another great example of the fashion and athletic collision would be the recent Asian-influenced Rita Ora and Adidas Originals collaboration. Because when you look good, you feel even better. Plus, it’ll give you an increased motivation to get up and go to the gym so you can show off your fierce gear.
Athleta, a woman’s athletic and swimwear clothing company, will open a new location at the ever-expanding Galleria between Free People and White House|Black Market. Of course, shoppers could always just go to a store like Target or Walmart to purchase yoga pants for a much cheaper price, but any active individual knows that quality is very important when purchasing workout clothing. No one wants to worry about their pants falling down when going into the squat position. Embarrassing.
The store, in partnership with Derek Lam and The Gap, boasts quality athletic clothing that has been designed and tested by women athletes. In addition to great quality, Athleta offers collections for special sizes such as petite, plus size, tall and maternity. It’s important to admire retailers that cater to all body types. The new 3,164-square-foot location will open in June, which is perfect timing for Houstonians who will continue to work on their bikini bodies during the summertime heat.
One of my favorite pieces in the Derek Lam 10C + Athleta collaboration is without a doubt the Stripe Space Poncho for $168. It’s stylish and worth your money for those summer showers.
