We are going back in time with the latest installment of the X-Men movie series, as director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse.

This installment picks up from what began with X-Men: Days of Future Past in the ‘70s to a decade later. Set in 1983, younger versions of well-known mutants will appear to tell the story of their journey to becoming who we now know them to be.

Apocalypse, the original, immortal and most powerful mutant from ancient Egypt, has been awakened after thousands of years. He is disillusioned with the world and builds a team with plans to destroy Earth as it is. Apocalypse’s team of Four Horsemen, including Magneto, Storm, Angel and Psylocke come together to erase the human race and create a new world where Apocalypse reigns supreme. It is then left to Professor Charles Xavier, Raven and the other X-Men to stop this god-like mutant from destroying mankind.

Favorited cast members James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence have returned to their respective roles in the series, along with Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Ty Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Oscar Isaac as the almighty Apocalypse. Be sure to catch X-Men: Apocalypse in theaters on May 26.
