Leather, boots and pistols are among the most important components necessary as an assassin. Fortunately, Taraji P. Henson has all of that and then some in the upcoming, action-packed film, Proud Mary.

Henson plays the role of Mary, a hitwoman working for an organized crime family in Boston. Heavily skilled in gun toting and smooth in her delivery, there’s no question as to why Mary was chosen for the job. But her life is completely turned around when a professional hit goes south and she meets a young boy who suddenly becomes her responsibility.

Henson’s roles are usually bold, sassy and fearless; the only difference with her role in “Proud Mary” is the action that comes with it. The character is reminiscent of the classic Foxy Bown, played by Pam Grier in 1974, and her fans are totally here for it.

Watch as Henson trades in her jewels for tools. Her character, Mary, has more on her plate than just her usual criminal missions, and there is more on the line than just her life alone. We will all bear witness to how her life as an assassin is changed forever.

Can Proud Mary keep on burnin’? Hit theaters on Jan. 12 to find out.
