auramdwHip-hop artist, songwriter and producer Jermaine Dupri will be bringing his musical talents to Houston for a must-see DJ set at Aura on May 29 for Memorial Day Weekend.

Since being in the music industry for over 25 years, the Grammy Award-winning Dupri knows a thing or two about music. He’s worked with heavyweights such as Usher, Mariah Carey and Jay-Z, in addition to producing his own set of hits that includes “Gotta Getcha,” “Welcome to Atlanta,” and “Ballin’ Out of Control.”

Recently, the So So Def mogul entered the world of reality TV with The Rap Game, a show that followed five aspiring young rappers who competed for a chance to be signed to Dupri’s So So Def record label. The show was produced by Dupri and Queen Latifah, and you could see Dupri in his element as a mentor for the young artists on the show.

“The idea was brought to me, and I didn’t really want anybody else to actually do something that ya’ll know that I do,” said Dupri. “I didn’t want to do a reality show but I felt like this particular one was screaming my name.”

And over the past decade, Dupri has spread his love for hip-hop at high-profile nightclubs and venues with his DJ sets. He’s held residencies at Wynn and Tryst in Las Vegas, and he’ll be bringing in Memorial Day with fans by doing a DJ set in Houston. In addition to Dupri, DJs Taylor Tran and Jamie Harvey will also be on hand to give the crowd a variety of dance beats throughout the night.
