Comic strips have entertained us for generations. From the adventurous stories to the soap opera tales, comic strips can be humorous, poignant and even a little dirty. And when you combine the storytelling of a good comic strip with the live movements of burlesque, you’re in for something unique that’s available for only one night.

comicstripKiKi Maroon’s Comic Strip is a special show that’s taking over Warehouse Live on Saturday, July 9. Produced by international award-winning burlesque star Kiki Maroon, KiKi Maroon’s Comic Strip is part standup comedy and part “Burlesque Nerd-lesque” that promises a whole new experience for her fan base. It’s the same fan base that’s helped Houston’s Burlesque Queen sell out three previous burlesque-themed shows at Warehouse Live. Houston loves burlesque, and Maroon has been at the forefront of keeping the movement going and keeping it fresh.

“Burlesque and standup have a long history together,” Maroon said. “Jackie Gleason, Red Skelton and Bob Hope have all started on the burlesque circuit. When you see a woman dressed like a chicken dance on stage and spin her tassels, you think ‘What the heck was that?!’ It’s sexy, but so ridiculous!”

Although this is Maroon’s first trek into the world of standup, her special guests aren’t newbies at all. She’s enlisted Dan St. Germain (Comedy Central, Jimmy Fallon), Tim Convy (The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, MTV), and Sam Demaris  (Funnyordie.com, Maxim Magazine’s Real Men of Comedy Tour) to be a part of this special night where comedy meets seduction.

Some of your favorite comic strips including Stormtroopers, Pokémon and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will all come to life in a va-va-va-voom, showgirl kinda way. Tickets are still available for this parody-filled production, so get yours soon.
