Janet Jackson is in Houston for her State of the World Tour which takes place at the Toyota Center on Saturday, Sept. 9; however, the pop star arrived in Houston a day early to show her support for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Janet made an appearance at the George R Brown Convention Center where she visited with evacuees.

Jackson toured the George R Brown with Mayor Sylvester Turner, as well as her brother Randy. Jackson was up close and personal with shelter residents as photos and a video shows Jackson interacting with people and even holding a baby.

Jackson has decided to donate all of the proceeds from her Houston show to flood relief charities.

The Grammy Award-winner kicked off her 56-date State of the World Tour on Thursday, Sept. 7 in Lafayette, Louisiana with the tour wrapping up in Atlanta, Georgia on Dec. 17.
