Nightlife in downtown Houston is making a name for itself once again.  Aside from the strip of fabulous lounges along Main Street, I love to wander into the classic hotels of downtown to take a look and experience the bars that they have to offer.  One hotel that I’ve always been particularly impressed with is Hotel ICON located at 220 Main St.  Their staple is bringing ‘contemporary luxury’ to the heart of the city.

You’ll find that the lobby bar is situated in an octagon surrounded by stools backed with cowhide along with low-top cocktail tables accompanied by fire-engine-red leather T-chairs.  Chandeliers of different elevations, suspensions, and shapes give the whole space a classic yet edgy depth which is elaborated by the soaring ceilings.

Features of the individual rooms include walls of mirrors, floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light, intricate millworks and paneling, as well as marble accents in the bathrooms.  Spaces are also available to rent out for corporate events, rehearsal dinners, and charity functions.  This chic yet elegant space is one that you will certainly want to put on your list during your next downtown outing.
