If you know anything about stand-up comics, the name Bill Bellamy should ring a bell. His tenacious drive to bring the funny has afforded Bellamy a long career as a comedian, along with appearances and roles on television shows, movie spots, producing and hosting. And this May, he is bringing his talent to Houston’s Improv to showcase just how well he can handle a live stage.

Bill Bellamy Stand Up

Making his start on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, Bellamy earned his stripes as a stand-up comedian, and since then, he’s held a variation of positions at MTV as a disk jockey and host of many shows. From the fall out funny to down right serious, Bellamy has also got the chops to hang with the big names in Hollywood film. He’s most known for his performances in Any Given Sunday and The Brothers, and he recently starred in Mr. Box Office, a syndicated sitcom, and is currently working on his next project. Bellamy is set to appear in a new family comedy on Fox that highlights the family life of a newly acclimated interracial family. He will play ex-NFL lineman Jay “Havoc” Hammond, who moves in with his white wife and her two eccentric sons. The comedic highlight is in his struggle to become a father to his wife’s boys and not let them get away with too much.

When Bellamy brings his comedy tour to the Improv, be prepared for some serious laughter, as he uses his life experiences to set the tone for his comedic genius.  You can catch Bill May 6 – 8, and tickets are available at improvhouston.com.
