Houston is home to plenty of attractions for both visitors and residents alike, from museums to outdoor parks to fine restaurants and sporting events. Of course, where you watch a game is almost as important as the players themselves. There needs to be enough space for you to high-five and cheer on your team, while being able to order your favorite brews on tap.  And when the Marriott Marquis hotel opened in December, the city was introduced to a two-level sports mecca.

Biggio’s Sports Bar, named after Astros legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, is a sprawling bi-level venue that takes sports watching to a whole new level. For starters, the first level is where guests can enjoy two separate dining areas, a lounge, and the main bar. The appeal of the main bar is heightened by a multi-flat-screen TV wall that extends from behind the bar to the second level. It’s an incredible sight that game-day super fans will enjoy at every glance.

The second level of the venue is where you’ll find their spacious outdoor patio, a second bar and separate dining areas that are available for private events and large groups.

As an upscale sports bar, the décor has a modern-classic approach with brick walls, woodwork that’s made out of benches from stadiums all over the world and Biggio memorabilia on the walls.

The menu at Biggio’s is comprised of some signature items that were prepared by Chef Cody Waneck. Their Loaded Nachos has been a hit since opening, and I’m not surprised. It’s a large display of tortilla chips, bison chili, green chile queso, bacon, sour cream, pico de gallo, refried beans, jalapeno, cilantro and cotija. Then there’s the Strauss Family Burger that’s great to enjoy during halftime. It’s made with redneck cheddar, pecan smoked bacon, and LTO (lettuce, tomato, onion) on a brioche roll.

And of course, you can’t talk about a sport s bar without mentioning the drinks. Biggio’s has 31 beers on tap with 24 at the downstairs bar and seven upstairs. Their extensive beer menu consists of items such  as Ziegenbock Amber Lager, Deep Ellum Blonde and Brooklyn Lager, to name a few. As a full service bar, it also has specialty drinks including the Gold Rush with Tin Cup Whiskey, lemon and honey. There’s also a nod to the region with the Galveston Breeze, which is made with Hurradura Blanco, Mahina Coconut, Aperol, lime and pineapple.

Biggio’s has certainly been a hit with patrons since it opened, and it will be one of the premier places to watch most sporting events.

“Biggio’s is the best,” said Director of Food & Beverage Bernard Hamburger. “From an experience perspective, it’s the place to be. There are some awesome fixtures in town that people like to go to, but this definitely adds to it.”
