Alicia Keys is no stranger to hit records and successful albums. At one point in her career, the soulful songstress had established herself as the absolute dominating force to be reckoned with. As an internationally renowned vocalist and pianist, it seemed as if nothing could or would ever slow down the woman who wrote “You Don’t Know My Name,” the song that made every crushing little girl faint at heart. When she disappeared from the spotlight due to family life and having her second baby in 2014, many of her fans began speculating on her comeback. And then there came “In Common.”

Keys’ track “In Common” is the first single from her upcoming untitled sixth album. When you hear Keys sing those soft melodic notes over smooth tropical beats, you might be surprised that it’s actually her. But somehow she still manages to make it a hit song. Unfortunately, “In Common” hasn’t been played much on mainstream radio, but the dance music world has definitely embraced it.

You can currently hear the Kaskade remix of “In Common” in heavy rotation on SiriusXM’s BPM electronic dance music station. Kaskade’s version of the song is a blend of Keys’ smooth, R&B filled vocals and mid-tempo basslines that you’re sure to hear at a chill lounge. The song has peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.

Could this be the start of a new chapter of success for Alicia Keys? Is “In Common” an example of the sound direction Keys will be taking for her sixth album? Only time will tell.
